Bourgault-Ducoudray Louis-Albert

Louis-Albert Bourgault-Ducoudray, born in Nantes on 2nd February 1840 and died in Vernouillet on 14th July 1910, was a Conductor and Breton composer who devoted his life to the rebirth and recognition of traditional music of all European regions. He was the first 'Collector in Brittany to hold an official mission from the ministry '. This study of traditional melodies was to inspire the musical construction and turn of phrase in his works. Thus it was that in two of his operas, Brittany in 1887 and Myrdhin in 1905, the interest he has in its tradition is obvious.
