De Langlais Xavier

Xavier de Langlais, born on 27th April 1906 in Sarzeau and deceased in Rennes on 15th June 1975, was a painter, sculptor and writer. Throughout his life, Xavier de Langlais testified in favor of a living Breton culture, notably through his paintings, his book illustrations, his sculptured wood pieces, which as Professor at the fine arts school in Rennes (1948-1973), he shared increasingly with his duty to write. He erected a monument to the 'armoricaine' reading of works on Brittany, his version in the Breton language of the King Arthur novels , five volumes in the French version, which he did not have time to complete.
