Lesaffre Jean


Jean Lesaffre (Baiona, 1907, Paris,1975), was chief engineer with the SNCF and co.founder of the Occitan student's association 'Le Nouveau Languedoc' in Montpellier in 1928. He played an active part in the life of the 'Les Amis de la Langue d'Oc' in Paris at the end of the 1930's and became its vice president. He is the author and co author of numerous articles, conferences and bibliographies.

A doctor of law after presenting his thesis in 1934 on 'Le problème national de la Catalogne et sa solution par le statut de 1932'.

Very involved after the War with  ' Les Amis de la Langue d'Oc', and all things related to Occitan, also a regular editor of the magazine 'La France Latine', he died in Paris in 1975.
